OEM and ODM

OEM and ODM We are experts on making products utilizing each socks category by proposing suitable materials for each customer and establishing production line, which we believe, can only be realized in domestic production. Production of GLEN CLYDE starts from detailed instructions to send our message to all the staff involved from craftsmen to the end users. We build up the best circumstances to make products including number of face yarn, under thread and rubber thread, scale adjustment and pressure in a finishing process, face to face with our craftsmen for our customers to experience the comfortable feelings naturally made from the material while wearing.

For clients who want socks with patterns, we suggest patterns and color combinations after deeply talking together on details like how they want to position socks as one of the products of the brand. Then we make samples by carefully simulating how we can express the patterns the clients like on the small field of socks. Regarding production of products, after deadline is decided we manage all the process to the last according to schedule agreed with our factory. “Socks which never disturb clothes even in clothing shops but have some presence”. This has been our concept in making socks ever since the company started.

HAND LINKING GLEN CLYDE PROJECT

Craftsman technology required for high-quality socks Glen Clyde recommends 'HAND LINKING'

There were originally three ways to sew socks toes; “hand linking”, “rosso” and “mellow”. Toes of socks manufactured today are mostly sewn by rosso. “Mellow” is just a way of sewing with lockstitch machine and the socks become uncomfortable when they are worn. The more rosso machines developed the less the difference of the product efficiency has become and mellow is rarely used today.

Hand linking is a sewing way of looping every corresponding stitch one by one by craftsman’s hands. Fine gauge often used for business socks are still alive today as the smooth linking are in demand for the kind of products. However when it comes to linking machines for coarse gauge, the production efficiency is low and it requires craftsman’s skills. Therefore the sewing cost is much higher than rosso machines and the machine’s roll itself became unnecessary as casual socks tended to be cheaper. All the linking machines for coarse gauge had been disposed of before we started looking for one. But our strong desire to offer the high-quality technology to our customers finally caused a miracle to happen. One linking machine for coarse gauge was discovered. We calibrated the machine to be used and send it to a new craftsman. It was overwhelmingly wonderful when we finally succeeded in making the machine come back to life.

Recently-developed automatic linking machines enabled socks to be knitted by being linked automatically. But the technology is confined to fine gauge or middle gauge and it is still a long way to go for coarse gauge. Even if it were realized the result would be different from “hand-linking” of craftsman skill. We hope you enjoy our high-quality socks with these stories when you find Glen Clyde’s socks marked with “HAND LINKED TOE”.
